GAMEPLAY VIDEO

SYNOPSIS

TINGE is a single-player 2.5D platformer set in a realm unknown to humankind where there are only shapes.

Player takes the role of WHITE, an outcast shunned by his WHITE CLAN. While he roams around, he finds a literal realm shattering truth that the world is breaking up. The rest of game follows how WHITE navigates a new world while forging bonds with other inhabitants of the world such as RED.

GAMEPLAY

  • Control WHITE, and navigate through a breaking world.

  • Interact with world and solve puzzles to proceed further.

  • Explore a randomly generated INVERSE world, and collect PEARLS OF LIFE to get back to the realm of living.

  • SHIFT to other characters and work together to solve puzzles.

THEMES & INFLUENCES

  • Main theme of this project is based on LONELINESS and BONDS.

  • I tried to keep the game as simple as it gets taking inspirations from video games such as THOMAS WAS ALONE, LIMBO, INSIDE, etc.

  • INVERSE world is inspired from limbos in general media and  from one of my favourite video game, DEATH STRANDING

ANALYSIS

  • I tried waiting for few levels to introduce new game play elements such as INVERSE and SHIFTING rather than doing everything in a single long level to give players breathing room.

  • At the start of the game, WHITE is a loner and does not open up with other characters. But, at the end, he evolves to be a better self and tries to help RED even if it's his life on the line.

OUTCOMES

  • Created a PROOF OF CONCEPT with a fully functioning tutorial stages for a smooth on-boarding of the players.

  • Implemented a smooth UI using Unity animation and collisions.

  • Tested out how to implement a simple narrative using cut scenes and dialogue boxes.
